Horizontal Directional Drilling

4. Enlarging the Hole: Once the pilot hole is drilled, the contractor then enlarges it to the required diameter using a reamer or an expanding cutting tool. This creates a void that allows for the installation of the utility or conduit.
5. Utility Installation: After enlarging the hole, the contractor inserts the utility or conduit into the drilled pathway. The utility is typically pulled or pushed through the hole using specialized techniques and equipment.
6. Backfilling and Restoration: Once the utility is in place, the drilled hole is backfilled with drilling mud or other suitable materials. The contractor then restores the surface area, ensuring minimal visible impact on the surrounding environment.
